Pins!

I bought an over-sized vintage Levi’s jacket in Portland and have been mildly obsessed with buying pins to put on it. I can’t decide which ones I want! So many foodie related ones as well as adorable things like “Book It” and “Grape Soda” from UP. Loved that movie!

Here are some of my faves that I found –

Where to Get Them: Book It, Grape Soda (a la UP), Frenchie, Don’t Text Him w/ Tear, Sriracha, Sushi.

FALL.

FALLAt last, seasons in Los Angeles. For a few days. I love layers, sweaters and scarves, but when it comes to weather I am a bit of a wimp since I’ve never lived outside of California. It does get quite cold in Bakersfield where I grew up but it doesn’t snow or anything. I’ve never driven in the snow and I don’t think my Prius would do so well in it anyways!

Here are a few fall goodies I love. The Lanvin sweater on the left is their gorgeous take on a classic cable-knit. The camel cardigan from Cupshe is $26.99 and so chic! And my personal fave is a Liberty Scarf. I’ve made it a tradition to pick one up everytime I’m in London.

New Years Resolutions

I’m usually not a believer in resolutions as I think it’s the same ol’ thing every year – but I came up with two tiny resolutions.

First is to start practicing the Irish goodbye at parties. I did this last night and felt kind of bad – but to each their own. I just hate doing the whole “oh no you’re leaving! awwww” conversation. Especially with people whom I just met. Plus, my friend probably was drunk enough to not realize it so that was a plus. Sorry Meggie you were my guinea pig!

Second is to shape up my wardrobe. I found this New York Magazine article that gives you a rundown of 50 classic pieces to own. Some of them don’t apply to me since I don’t have to dress up for work, but many do as I already own quite a few of them. This is more of a next few years resolution seeing as how I fully intend on purchasing a real Burberry Trench and perhaps a DVF Wrap Dress.

Friendsgiving

Last weekend I hosted a Friendsgiving at my home. I’ve been wanting to do this for years an it was a great success. I highly recommend it for anyone who doesn’t go home for Thanksgiving – or in my case for the weekend after Thanksgiving when everyone comes home.

Lots of food, conversation, wine, punch and laughter with some of my closest friends. Complete with “Fireplace for your home” playing on my TV. It really does add some ambiance.

The menu was as follows:

Cheese plate

Charcuterie

Brussel Sprouts (made by my friend Luisa)

Butternut Squash Lasagna

Stuffing

Mashed Potatoes

Mushroom Gravy

Braised Turkey Legs

Pumpkin Pie (made by my friend Eileen)

Cranberry Bourbon Punch
